Ronaldo vs Lukaku – the interviews that shocked football
Cristiano Ronaldo further severed ties with Manchester United in his latest interview with Piers Morgan where he claimed he feels betrayed by the club.
Ronaldo has wanted to leave Manchester United since the end of last season and has had poor relations with new manager Erik ten Hag.
The interview was a bit of a car crash and didn’t help his case in wanting to leave the club and play at a Champions League level: he’s ageing, too expensive, and now, too heavy a baggage to have on board.

Just like him, Romelu Lukaku had a similarly bad interview last season, which dented his hopes of a positive Chelsea career and led to him leaving the club in the summer.
Ronaldo and Lukaku had similar interviews
Lukaku spoke to Sky Italia about his Chelsea spell in December last year after reports of differences between him and manager Thomas Tuchel.
"I’m not happy with the situation, this is normal. I think the coach has chosen to play with another system, I just have to not give up and continue to work and be a professional.

I am not happy with the situation, but I am a worker and I must not give up," the Belgian said, which didn’t go down well with the fans.
At the time, Lukaku was still quite inconsistent for Chelsea while the Blues were reigning European champions having seen Thomas Tuchel do well in a short time at the club.
Ronaldo is in a similar spot, undermining new boss Erik ten Hag, who has the backing of much of the Manchester United support having had a fine start to life at Old Trafford.
“I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me,” Ronaldo said. “If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never going to have respect for you.”
Everything about these Ronaldo quotes highlight a man who has always had a fragile ego struggling to adapt to his new reality and raging against the dying of the light.

The interview has made his feelings about the club and manager clear, and it’s evident he is looking to leave the club as soon as possible.
How Manchester United deal with this remains to be seen, but for now it’s clear that Ronaldo’s interview, like Lukaku’s last year, is a total disaster.
