Blow for Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool set to miss out on midfield target
Liverpool have been looking to improve their midfield options as of late following a tough start to the season and considering they are thin on options in that area.
The Reds have identified a variety of targets over the last few months and could make a move for one of them in the January transfer window.
Jude Bellingham has been their priority for some time but it’s more likely he moves in the summer rather than in January, given his importance to Borussia Dortmund.
However, Liverpool have suffered a blow in their search as Konrad Laimer, one of their targets, is set to leave RB Leipzig but move to fellow German side Bayern Munich.
Liverpool set to miss out on target
Laimer has been admired by manager Jurgen Klopp and has been linked with a move to Liverpool quite often in the past but a move never materialized.
The Austrian player’s versatility is admired, as he is able to play in a variety of positions in midfield as well as right-back and on the wings.
RB Leipzig tried to get Laimer to agree to a new deal to prolong his stay at the Red Bull Arena, but that was proving to be complicated as the player had no intention to extend his stay.
Bayern Munich swooped in, having showed interest from the summer and have proposed a deal until the summer of 2027, as Julian Nagelsmann looks to reunite with his former midfielder.
Liverpool will now have to look elsewhere for options to fill up their lack of options in midfield and were previously linked to Ghana’s Mohammed Kudus.
Bayern are on the verge of completing the signing of Konrad Laimer on a free transfer for next season. The Ajax star has done well at the World Cup and the Reds are closely monitoring his progress to possibly make a move for him in the future.
There are also other targets on their list and who they make a move for remains to be seen in the next few months as they look to improve.
