Man Utd to be given 'second chance' to sign Atletico Madrid star
Manchester United have a second chance at Atletico Madrid’s Matheus Cunha having missed out in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils were targeting a move for him in the summer when they were looking for attacking signings but didn’t reach a deal to get the transfer complete.
They ended up pursuing other targets, such as Antony, who was their primary option all along and Cunha ended up staying at Atletico Madrid.

Now, there may be a second chance for him as Manchester United are still keeping tabs on the player and according to Marca, could make a move for him.
Atletico Madrid open to selling
According to Marca, Atletico Madrid need to sell players to make money due to their poor financial condition and they weren’t helped by their Champions League elimination last week.
They consider Cunha to be ‘one of the strongest options to make money’ in the current Atletico Madrid squad and the club would be open to making the sale.

There is reportedly a €30 million hole in their finances, after a summer where they were already running a €40 million deficit, which makes a sale almost necessary.
Previously, Atletico Madrid were unwilling to sell the Brazilian but things have changed as of late and their financial situation and Champions League exit has forced their hand.
It’s unclear how much they will be looking to sell for – the Spanish club bought Cunha for a €26 million fee and will want more than that to help their cause.

Over the summer, there were reports that they were chasing upwards of €50 million for him, but whether Manchester United pay that will be interesting to see.
It’s clear the English club need attacking reinforcements and along with Cunha, they have other targets in mind such as PSV’s Cody Gakpo and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos.
