What Chelsea need to do to sign Yeremy Pino

Chelsea are interested in signing Villarreal wonderkid Yeremy Pino as Graham Potter looks to revitalise his attack.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager has struggled since arriving at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues now without a win in their past five Premier League games.

The attack has been stuttering for several years now, with Chelsea unable to find the right solution in the central striker department in particular.

The options out wide are fairly plentiful, but the likes of Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic have failed to impress over the past 18 months, leading to calls for reinforcements.

As a result, the Blues are looking at signing Villarreal star Pino in an attempt to improve productivity and creativity in the final third.

Chelsea aren't the only club to have shown an interest in the 20-year-old, with Arsenal heavily linked with a move over the summer transfer window, while their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have also now entered the race.

Pino, who has been included in Spain's 26-man World Cup squad, has scored just once in 13 La Liga appearances for Villarreal this campaign and is yet to register an assist. He racked up 10 goals and assists in the league last season.

However, Chelsea have been told that it will take a massive offer if they want to sign Pino in 2023.

Pino to Chelsea?

Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Chelsea's pursuit of Pino, revealing to Caught Offside: "I’m aware of some recent Tottenham and Chelsea transfer rumours and I can say it’s normal that many clubs in England including London clubs are following Yeremi Pino," he said.

"He’s a top talent and he’s represented by Stellar Group which is super strong in Premier League. At the moment there are no advanced talks yet, we will see in 2023; I’m not sure he’s going to leave in January unless a big proposal arrives."

Pino currently has a contract at Villarreal until June 2027, which provides context as to why the Spaniard could cost a fortune if Chelsea heavily pursue a move for him to reinforce their forward line.
