FootballTransfers exclusively revealed that the Blues were among the favours and that the La Liga giants would be willing to let the Portugal international leave on a free.

It is now thought that Atletico are preparing themselves for an offer from Chelsea - with the intent of securing a Champions League spot this season.

As well as bringing in another centre-back and possibly a winger, Potter wants to secure an attacker and the side are considering a loan with an option or obligation to buy in the summer.

The youngster has had a spat with coach Diego Simeone and his current club are not expecting to recoup the fee they paid in 2019, but they are willing to let him leave.

Other clubs keen on Felix include Newcastle, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester United.

However, it is thought that chairman and owner Todd Boehly is believed to be willing to move swiftly for a deal.

Felix started in four games at the World Cup for Portugal and scored in their opening victory over Ghana.

Chelsea’s January spree

As well as the forward, Chelsea are hopeful of bringing in Monaco’s Benoit Badiashile in January - and the defender is expected to cost more than €35million.

The club are also admirers of RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol - but the player has other sides in the race for his signature.
