Chelsea urged to re-sign Musiala from Bayern
Chelsea lost Germany World Cup star Jamal Musiala to Bayern Munich for just €1 million in 2019. Now, a former Premier League winner with the Blues has urged them to bring him back.
Musiala spent eight years in the Chelsea academy but left for Bayern in 2019, with the German champions offering him a clearer path to first-team football - and, shrewdly, signing his friend and Chelsea teammate Bright Arrey-Mbi at the same time.
Musiala was an England youth international at the time, one who spoke English with a London accent and wasn't yet fluent in German despite having been born in Stuttgart.

Two-and-a-half short years later and Musiala has blossomed into the best player either Bayern or Germany have to call upon, at the still-tender age of 19.
Musiala went into the World Cup with Germany with 22 goal-involvements from 22 games for Bayern this season - despite lining up in midfield - and he was one of the few players to come away from Qatar with his reputation enhanced after Hansi Flick's side went out at the group stage.

Musiala completed more dribbles alone than 23 countries managed collectively by the end of the group stage.
England can't undo Musiala's change in international allegiance, but former Chelsea right-back Glen Johnson thinks the Blues should correct their mistake at club level.

'I wish he was still English…"
"I'd like to see Jamal Musiala in a Liverpool or back in a Chelsea shirt, especially with the way he's playing at the moment," Johnson, who won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2005 and later turned out for the Reds, told FairBettingSites.
"Most top teams would bite their arm off for him. Musiala was getting involved in most of Germany's attacks before they were knocked out. He looks like he would really suit the Premier League. I wish he was still English…
"Musiala would get into the England team, he'd certainly go toe-to-toe with all the other midfielders in the team. I'd definitely say he's good enough to start for England."
Chelsea, or any other suitor, might not find it easy to prise Musiala away from Bayern. Hi current contract runs until June 2026 and his Football Transfers value has doubled to €95 million since the start of the season per our in-house algorithm.
