Real Madrid set to steal Man Utd transfer target Frimpong
Jeremie Frimpong has been identified as a potential replacement for Diogo Dalot at Maanchester United, but now Real Madrid are ready to steal in for the right back, and they have an ace in the hole…
Frimpong is a 21-year-old right-back who has been starring for Bayer Leverkusen since joining from Celtic in an €11 million deal in January 2021, and according to SciSports is the top performing player in his position Bundesliga-wide - something five goals this season allude to.
Right-back has become a problem position at the Santiago Bernabeu. First choice Dani Carvajal (30) and his understudy Lucas Vazquez (31) aren't getting any younger, while the 26-year-old Alvaro Odriozola doesn't appear to have a future with los Blancos.

Frimpong, who is part of Louis van Gaal's Netherlands squad for the World Cup in Qatar, is seen as a potential solution. And Real have an advantage over the competition in that their former midfielder Xabi Alonso is his current manager at Bayer Leverkusen who "can lend a helping hand."
As well as Real and Man Utd, Barcelona are also reportedly tracking Frimpong. Their preference in the position in Bayern Munich's Benjamin Pavard or Villarreal's Juan Foyth, but Frimpong would be a viable alternative if neither can be prised away from their clubs.

Frimpong was born in Amsterdam but moved to England at the age of seven before coming up through the youth academy at Manchester City. After failing to break into the first team, he moved to Scotland with Celtic in 2019 and made 51 appearances for them before moving onto Leverkusen in January 2021, with 30 per cent of his €11m fee going to City.
Frimpong's current contract at Bayer runs until June 2025. He has five goals and three assists from 21 games in all competitions this season.
