Scott McTominay: Fabrizio Romano gives update on Man Utd midfielder
Any sale of Scott McTominay this month is unlikely as he’s viewed as an important player for the rest of the season, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Manchester United midfielder has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this January window with the likes of Newcastle United reportedly keen.
But transfer guru Romano has claimed on the United Stand channel that the club do not wish to lose the Scot during this month at least.

Newcastle are said to have held talks over a January move for the 26-year-old as Eddie Howe is an admirer. But with financial constraints limiting Man Utd this January, the side will push back on any move for him.
McTominay has lost game-time to Casemiro, who joined from Real Madrid over the summer. He started in Man Utd’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates owing to the Brazilian’s suspension.
Erik ten Hag praises McTominay
Erik ten Hag had spoken fondly of McTominay ahead of their clash with the Gunners.
“I'm convinced this is the right solution, Scott can do the job, he's a great player for our squad,' the Dutchman said.
“He's a great player for this team and I think he's also making a good development. I had something in mind for where Fred could have played, a role like last week against City, but during the game, we can change if necessary.”
The club remain in the Europa League and they are also competing for a Champions League spot in the Premier League.
It means that they will be Man Utd will be enduring plenty of games towards the end of the season as they try and maintain their position.
The club have been unable to bring players in on a permanent basis this window owing to uncertainty over the future of the Glazer's ownership at the club - while Financial Fair Play has played a part as well.
