EXCLUSIVE: Spurs hijack Arnaut Danjuma's Everton transfer
Everton have been left in limbo over their deal with Arnaut Danjuma, FootballTransfers can reveal.
The Netherlands international was set to finalise his move to Goodison Park and the club had readied an announcement for tonight. But that is now hanging in the balance and it is Tottenham who are edging close to securing the winger.
One source told us that Danjuma has now received a better offer than the one he had with Everton. The player had signed a contract with the Toffees but not all the paperwork was done.
We understand that though the deal is not entirely dead with Everton, complications have arisen and another club has entered the forefront - and we are told that club is Spurs.
Sounds are that Danjuma may have had his head turned by the London side and that he’s opting for a move to the Lilywhites.
Danjuma's Premier League return
Following a successful spell at Bournemouth which saw the forward bag 24 goals in 35 appearances in the Championship, Danjuma made the move to Spain when the Yellow Submarine offered to pay €25 million for his signature in 2021.
As such, the 25-year-old forward has quickly attracted interest from England, with Liverpool and Manchester United both reportedly keeping tabs on a player that could have easily ended up in the English top-flight in the summer.
Danjuma had been the subject of interest from clubs from across Europe this window - including Everton and Bournemouth.
Cherries manager recently Gary O'Neil spoke highly of the star, saying: "I've worked with him. Arnie knows what I think of him. He’s a fantastic talent.
"He was excellent for us while he was here, especially towards the end of his spell. I’m sure wherever he goes to next will be pleased to have him. He’s an attacking talent."
Villarreal boss Quique Setien said earlier this window: "It is true that the talks were advanced. It’s logical if he’s thinking of leaving, that we do not count on him on a day-to-day basis. His head is not there right now to compete with us."
