Liverpool still chasing Mason Mount transfer
Liverpool maintain an interest in Chelsea’s Mason Mount as they explore whether or not to buy the midfielder in the summer transfer window, FootballTransfers has learned.
The Chelsea star’s current deal expires in 2024 and contract extension talks have been dragging out.
Though the club still feel confident that he will end up signing on the dotted line, Liverpool have Mount in their sights.

The Reds tried to sign him as a teenager, so there is a long-standing appreciation of the 24-year-old, and Liverpool are already in contact with Mount’s entourage.
Other reports suggested that the Reds were keen last year - and we are told that there is an idea that the side may make a play for the England international in the next window.
In fact, we hear that there have been conversations between Mount and the club - though whether that turns into anything remains to be seen.

Liverpool paid €44 million for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain when he had a year left on his deal at Arsenal and already have a contingent of English players in their ranks.
When the new Chelsea ownership came in last year, they made Mount and Reece James a priority over new deals. However, that hasn't quite turned out to be the case. And though the defender signed an extension, Mount is still yet to secure his future at Stamford Bridge, with talks still ongoing.
The influx of new players isn’t a big concern as a lot of them are on lower packages than Mount would receive, but his long-term future is uncertain.
Liverpool’s central midfield hunt
Meanwhile, sources in Germany tell us that Kouadio Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach could leave the side for €40m this window, with the German club needing to sell as they hand some of their other squad members fresh deals.
We are told that the club would be willing to listen to offers of around that mark, or maybe a bit lower, depending on how much interest is generated for the 21-year-old.
Interest remains in the midfielder, as it does with the likes of Nice's Khephren Thuram, Wolves' Ruben Neves, who would be essentially ready-made, and Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners, with Liverpool working in the background on that position for this January.
There is a feeling that by the end of the window a deal could be made if there's an opportunity to improve their midfield.
