‘Thank you Chelsea!’ – Arsenal fans go crazy as Jorginho seals Aston Villa win
Arsenal ended a four-game winless run in the most dramatic circumstances on Saturday as they twice came from behind to beat Aston Villa 4-2.
The game was evenly poised throughout, with the Gunners only going 3-2 up in stoppage time when Jorginho’s shot clattered off the bar, hit the head of Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez and ended up in the back of the net. Shortly afterwards, with Argentina’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper having advanced to try to score from a corner, Gabriel Martinelli broke away to score into an empty net.
It was the contribution of Jorginho, though, that was most eye-catching.
The Italy international was criticised on social media during the first half for having upset the balance of Mikel Arteta’s side, but by half-time he was being hailed in many quarters as a hero thanks to his overall performance.
Indeed, it was the first match that Jorginho has played for the Gunners that the London side have won.
Come full-time Arsenal fans were singing the praises of a player they signed on transfer Deadline Day from rivals Chelsea.

Thank you Chelsea football club for Jorginho.
Thank you Todd Boehly for helping us in this title race especially on deadline day. pic.twitter.com/hCTDS5RB3H— Arsenal ANOOP (@ArsenalAnoop) February 18, 2023
Jorginho deserves more respect from a lot of people. He does so many good things but people will focus only those moments someone runs past him.

Jorginho has evident flaws defensively but he is immaculate in possession. Leader and man of the match performance today. He was the engine that kept us pushing. How pivotal could his strike be at the end of the season? We will see, but phenomenal in what he can do. 👓 pic.twitter.com/SizIu5gBwF

Jorginho was my MOTM today, thought he’s been sublime and topped it off with a goal. What a signing. If not him, Odegaard. Both wonderful.

Poetry. Just poetry. Vieira and Martinelli. Zinchenko first goal. Jorginho screamer, Emi Martinez blunder and Emery defeated. This is a champions performance. 🖤 pic.twitter.com/FYNuCpim0A

Jorginho excellent again today. Two top games now. He's not Thomas Partey, but he is a massive step up on Elneny.
