Arsenal given Man Utd warning over Caicedo
The race to sign Moises Caicedo is ‘open’ this summer and Arsenal could face a challenge from Manchester United for the Brighton midfielder.
Caicedo has been one of the Premier League’s most coveted players in recent times, having had bids from Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea rejected by Brighton this season.
The Ecuadorian is expected to leave in the summer after seeing a January exit blocked and transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano told The United Stand that Arsenal could see competition from Erik ten Hag’s side for Caciedo in the summer.
STAR: Why Caicedo is as good as Casemiro
“It’s open. Arsenal will be there, for sure,” Romano said. “A big transfer is expected in the summer and he’s always been in Manchester United’s scouts lists from when he was in Ecuador.
“But it’s about the budget and about what Brighton will ask, I think it will be more than £60 million and it also depends on who the owners will be at United.
“Arsenal will definitely try but it’s not certain he will go there and it is open for clubs to make a move.”
Bidding war likely for Caicedo
Caicedo has been a revelation for Brighton since signing for £4.5m in 2021 and the 21-year-old was believed to have been recommended to United prior to joining the Seagulls.
However, he signed for Brighton and, despite having only made 34 appearances for the club, Caicedo has been the subject of bids exceeding £70m from a host of major clubs.
RACE: Liverpool join Arsenal and Chelsea for Caicedo
Caciedo is contracted to Brighton until 2025 but the club are expected to allow him to leave after he tried to force an exit in January.
While Arsenal are expected to lead the chase for Caicedo, United, Newcastle, Liverpool and Chelsea are all likely to make approaches, meaning a bidding war could transpire in the summer.
