Chelsea are already starting to get a return on their lavish January transfer window spend, with Enzo Fernandez and Joao Felix immediately striking up a promising partnership for Graham Potter’s side.

This was underlined in Saturday’s Premier League match with West Ham, in which it took the two new Blues just 20 minutes to combine for the opening goal of the game.

Felix had already seen a goal disallowed for offside when he stroked in the first legal effort of the match. It owed much to the quality of Enzo Fernandez, whose deft cross over the Hammers’ defence left the on-loan Atletico Madrid striker with an easy finish.

The Portugal star had made a frustrating start to his time at Chelsea as he was dismissed in the defeat against Fulham, forcing him to sit out three games because of a suspension – including the debut of €121 million signing Enzo.

But the pair struck an immediate understanding when they finally got on the field together, and it has left Blues fans thrilled with what might be ahead given it has been a frustrating season for them to date.
