Unsung Newcastle star’s value increases €15m in six months
Newcastle find themselves in the thick of the race for the top four in the Premier League, with Eddie Howe having transformed the club over the course of the last year.
Of course, the manager has been aided by the takeover from Saudi Arabia, yet the riches that were expected to be handed to have not materialised in the manner that outsiders of the club might have expected.
There has been a surprising lack of blockbuster signings, with only Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Sven Botman arriving for really big money in the summer.

Howe did have an influx of talent last January – Bruno Guimaraes, Chris Wood, Joe Willock, Dan Burn and Kieran Trippier – but it has not been the star-studded conveyor belt that fans might have dreamed of.
Nevertheless, the job that Howe has done has been remarkable.
It is perhaps a little surprising, then, that the transfer value of Newcastle’s players have not risen more dramatically since the summer.
There have, however, been some notable exceptions.

The Newcastle players whose values have increased most this season
Most pertinent of these is goalkeeper Nick Pope, whose value has more than doubled from €11.5 million in July to €29.4m now.
The rise of Bruno continues, meanwhile, as he has joined a group of players valued at €50m or above by reaching that figure, while Isak has seen his valuation rise from €41.1m to €53m, making him the Magpies’ most valuable current asset.
Newcastle's five biggest transfer value increases (July 2022-Feburary 2023
Name | Increase (€m) | Percentage change |
Nick Pope | 17.9 | 256% |
Sean Longstaff | 15 | 600% |
Alexander Isak | 11.9 | 129% |
Bruno Guimaraes | 11.6 | 130% |
Joelinton | 7 | 130% |
The biggest jump, though, comes courtesy of Sean Longstaff, who has resurrected his career under Howe by quietly becoming a regular member of the team. Having been valued at €3m last summer, the man whose double sealed the Magpies’ place in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester United has seen his worth jump to €18m now – a rise of 600%.
Other big percentage winners are Fabian Schar, who has seen his worth jump from €1.4m to €5.4m, and Elliot Anderson, who has gone from €1.1m to €4.7m.
