West Ham plot £100m raid on Man Utd

Manchester United have been quoted a similar number for Declan Rice, but it now looks like West Ham could be ready to spend north of £100 million on up to four Old Trafford outcasts.

Rice has emerged as one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League, one of the first names on Gareth Southgate's England teamsheet but one embroiled in a relegation dog-fight with West Ham this season.

United, Arsenal and Rice's first club Chelsea are all reportedly interested in the player, but the Red Devils could have an ace in the hole - or is that four? - with West Ham interested in a number of their players.

Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek are the players in question, with all four of interest to the Hammers according to CBS Sports Golazo journalist and frequent FootballTransfers collaborator Ben Jacobs.

Four players on the market

"Scott McTominay is one name that could depart," he told CaughtOffside. "Because Casemiro has come in, McTominay will be available on the market. Donny van de Beek is another one.

"Anthony Martial… West Ham have really liked the player in the past and a Monaco return isn't unthinkable either. And then Harry Maguire is linked with a different club every day. It's hard on Maguire, but that clears up the squad a little bit."

The Hammers are currently 18th in the Premier League, one point behind Everton and Bournemouth, who are safe as it stands. Relegation would scupper any of the above moves but survival for a side who finished seventh last season would give a different complexion.

McTominay would seem like United's most obvious makeweight, with the Scot and Rice playing the same position, while Maguire is the one who would most significantly dent a potential Rice fee, rated, as he is, at €32 million by FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm.
