Officially, Mount missed Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Leicester due to a knock.

But, media reports on Sunday suggest that Mount was left out of the matchday squad, despite being fully fit.

It is believed that his contract situation played a role in Graham Potter’s decision to leave him out.

This latest development adds further fuel to the fire and makes a summer exit look ever likelier for the England international.

The attacking midfielder’s contract expires in 2024 and Chelsea are expected to sell him this summer if a new deal can’t be agreed in the coming months.

Contract talks have ground to a halt, and this has caused friction between Mount and the club.

Liverpool favourites to sign Mount

Liverpool are favourites to sign him but Man Utd, Arsenal and Newcastle have all been linked.

Mount’s salary demands from Chelsea are reported to be around €300,000 per week.

Mount’s form in 2022-23 has led to Chelsea being unwilling to pay him that much.

Since October 19, Mount has scored just one goal and delivered zero assists in 23 matches for club and country.

His only goal contribution was a 90th minute strike on December 27 to clinch a 2-0 Chelsea win over Bournemouth.
