Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored more goals for Saudi Arabia club Al-Nassr in eight matches - which is more than any Manchester United player this season apart from Marcus Rashford.

The Portugal international, who left Old Trafford back in November after his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, has been on fire with his new side, netting nine times so far.

That is more than any Man Utd squad member, withstanding England international Rashford.

Bruno Fernandes comes in second place, having scored eight times since Ronaldo departed.

Ronaldo’s exit from Man Utd became something of a saga. He had hoped to leave the club in the summer after the side endured their worst Premier League season ever under Ralf Rangnick.

But his move never materialised and he stayed with the club. However, what followed was a series of public tantrums, even leaving the stadium prematurely during matchday.

After his interview with Morgan in which he criticised Erik ten Hag, the side opted to finally release the Portugal international.

The feelers were put out to find Ronaldo a new club but all the sides linked, including Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli, did not make a move for the superstar and he ended up moving to Saudi Arabia for a huge sum of wages.

Ronaldo firing it up in the Pro League

The former Real Madrid attacker recently helped Al-Nassr to an important 2-1 win over Abha on Saturday with a breathtaking free kick in the 78th minute of the game.

Saudi Pro League table-toppers Al-Ittihad had beat Ronaldo’s club 1-0 last week but now the race is on after Ronaldo buried the ball from 30 yards, before Anderson Talisca netted a penalty four minutes from time to seal the win.

Abha initially took the lead through Abdulfattah Adam Ahmad Mohammed but Ronaldo’s input inspired them to a late comeback and win.
