Liverpool in danger of losing Bellingham to Real Madrid
Liverpool could miss out on Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid unless they step up their chase for the Dortmund midfielder.
Bellingham is expected to leave Dortmund this summer and the 19-year-old is believed to prefer a move to Liverpool, however Real Madrid have made the first steps towards a transfer by holding talks with the player’s entourage in recent weeks.
AMBITIONS: Real target Bellingham and Erling Haaland to lead new era
“Yes, Jude Bellingham’s father is speaking to Real Madrid and yes, he has met with the Spanish outfit,” BILD reporter Christian Falk told CaughtOffside.
“This hasn’t just taken place in London, as has been reported, but also the week before in the Spanish capital. But the important thing is that Jude himself has not yet made a decision and there’s still yet to be talks with Dortmund.
“Liverpool are still in the running, though it’s important to note that if Real are serious and the Reds aren’t ready to make a good offer soon, it will become an increasingly difficult situation for the latter.
“Jürgen Klopp has already admitted to himself: When it comes to money, Jude doesn’t stand a chance. That all being said, Bellingham isn’t motivated solely by money.”
What does the future hold for Jude Bellingham?
Dortmund are expected to demand up to €150 million for Bellingham, although the German side are hopeful they can convince their star midfielder to stay at the club and extend his contract, which is currently set to expire in 2025.
However, Bellingham is keen on a departure, with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea also looking to rival Real and Liverpool for the England international’s signature.
PLAUDITS: Bellingham will be 'a hell of a player' wherever he goes
Real have identified Bellingham as their primary target this summer but the La Liga outfit are concerned that they may be outbid by Premier League sides, although they will proceed with a move after reports that veteran midfielder Luka Modric may leave when his contract expires in the summer.
Liverpool also see Bellingham as their ideal signing and they have set aside a budget specifically for his transfer but the club have yet to begin formal negotiations over a move.
