The news of the left-back's fresh deal has made waves on Twitter as the 27-year-old has been one of Erik ten Hag's most reliable players this season.

His new contract is set to run for four years, which would see him become one of United's longest-serving players in the modern era if he were to remain with the club for the deal's full duration, and at the end of which he could perhaps go down as a United legend.

Shaw has featured in 35 games across all competitions this season, chipping in with six assists and one goal, and the club was desperate to extend his stay, which is believed to be just the first of several new contracts to be signed at United in the near future.

His impressive form has made him an ever-present at Old Trafford, and indeed some fans argue that Shaw has been the best in his position in all of Europe this term.

While the reaction to his new deal has been overwhelmingly positive, some Twitter users weren't quite so joyous about the news.
