FootballTransfers broke the news earlier this week that Arsenal are seeking to tie Odegaard down to a new deal until 2030, which would represent a five-year extension to his current contract.

Having played a key role in Mikel Arteta’s side rising to the top of the Premier League, the 24-year-old Odegaard has elevated his status to one of the best players in the division this season.

And while Arsenal’s priority will be tying down Bukayo Saka and William Saliba to new contracts, Odegaard is next in the queue for a new deal – something that has TalkSport pundit Woods thrilled.

“Arsenal are ready to offer Norway playmaker Martin Odegaard a new deal to keep him at the club until 2030,” she said.

“I’m very excited about this one. This is the thing about Arsenal, they have to make sure the best players re-sign and sign new deals and get them to commit their future to the club.

“There’s no better time to do that than right now when everything is amazing. He’s just so great and at the centre of everything. He’s such a leader.”
