Mohamed Salah is reportedly open to leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, with Sadio Mane already gone and Roberto Firmino set to follow.

Salah, Mane and Firmino formed one of the most potent front threes in world football across five seasons at Anfield, the trio helping fire Liverpool to the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020.

But Mane left in a €41 million move to Bayern Munich last summer, and Salah - and indeed the rest of Liverpool - have struggled to recreate the form that saw them finish as runners-up at home and abroad last term.

Indeed, Jurgen Klopp has endured his worst ever season as Liverpool manager, and a report in France suggests he could be set to lose the crown jewel of his side.

Spain Salah's 'preferred destination'

"At 30, he is the last survivor of the Salah-Mane-Firmino magic triangle and the former Roma man is increasingly thinking about his own departure according to our information," report Foot Mercato. "And he is no longer really hiding that fact.

"Like Mane, Salah would see himself at a top European club to give new meaning to his career. But clubs who can both afford Salah and give him that challenge are not abundant. According to our information, Spain would be the Egyptian's preferred destination."

Salah was spotted having dinner with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi at a London restaurant earlier this month, fuelling speculation that a move to the French capital was in the offing for the Egyptian.

Should Spain indeed be Salah's plan over France, Real Madrid are likely the only club who could afford him, with Barcelona struggling with a colossal debt.

Salah is 31 in June though, and Real are no longer willing to spend big on players of that age after being burned by Eden Hazard's transfer from Chelsea in 2019.
