'Move to Man Utd', Osimhen’s teammate urges Napoli striker
Victor Osimhen should join Manchester United this summer according to one of his teammates and a former Red Devils striker.
Osimhen has been in prolific form for Napoli this season and is the second-top scorer in Europe with 19 goals in 21 games, helping his side build a 15-point lead at the top of Serie A.
The 24-year-old recently admitted his ‘dream’ is to play in the Premier League and United are expected to make a summer move for him, having identified the number nine as their top striker target.
GOALS: Osimhen reveals Premier League ambitions
Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo spent a year on loan at United in 2020 and the Al-Hilal forward has urged his international teammate to make the move to Old Trafford.
"I think it's a good fit because he is a young boy, he runs and he can score goals. Having Osimhen and [Marcus] Rashford up top at United will cause any defender panic, because they are two fast players and they are goalscorers,” Ighalo told Sky Sports. "
"We don't speak about what his future holds, that is the work of his agent and is his privacy, but if he asks me for my opinion and what he should do, I would say to join Manchester United because it is the biggest club."
Osimhen ‘is like an ant’ claims Ighalo
Osimhen is entering the final two years of his contract at Napoli and, while the Italian side are under no pressure to sell due to their impending title win, interest from sides such as United, Arsenal and Chelsea could force their hand, with bids in excess of €100 million expected to be made.
BIG BUCKS: Chelsea prepare 'mega money move' for Osimhen
Ighalo described Osimhen as someone with ‘a heart of a lion’ and compared the striker’s passion to that of United defender Lisandro Martinez, as well as likening his playstyle to ex-Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
"He is a goalscorer, he never stops,” Ighalo said. “Osimhen is like an ant. He is a striker that doesn't give defenders a chance to rest; he is always going to be on you, he is always going to press you and he isn't afraid.
"He is somebody who has the heart of a lion. He will try and put his head on any ball to try and score, I know that. He takes risks and I think it would be a feat for Man United, just in the same way this Argentina defender [Martinez] – ‘The Butcher’... you see that guy going for every ball. He is similar to Osimhen."
