Release clause for Man Utd and Arsenal transfer target set to DOUBLE

Manchester United and Arsenal are set to be left disappointed as Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga is set to sign a new deal with the La Liga club that will take him away from the Premier League duo.

In addition to Man Utd and Arsenal, Newcastle and sides from the Bundesliga have been closely following the player.

With a contract that runs until 2026, there is no apparent need for Celta to move to tie him down to a new deal, yet Veiga has an exit clause in his contract that his club want to double.

The Spain U21 international can presently leave for any club willing to pay €40 million for him, but Celta are eager to see that figure double.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a breakout season in La Liga, which is underlined by the incredible growth he has seen in his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV). Last May, he was rated at just €1m but he has seen that shoot up to €12.8m, with no sign of that progression slowing down.

How Veiga rates against La Liga’s best

According to data analytics experts SciSports, he has been among the best-performing central midfielders in La Liga. Among the handful of players outperforming him this season are Frenkie de Jong and Pedri of Barcelona, and Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga.

With that in mind, it is little wonder that Celta are eager to tie the versatile player, who can play through the centre or even out on the left, down to a new deal. Should he continue at his current rate of progression over the course of the next six months, €40m will start to look like a very reasonable figure indeed.

Despite the number of scouts tracking the youngster, it is not reported that there have been any concrete bids of the player yet, but it is stated that Celta are aware that numerous clubs are monitoring him closely.
