Chelsea are set to revisit the possibility of signing PSG attacker Neymar this summer.

The Blues were interested in adding the Brazil international to their ranks in 2022 but ultimately passed on the 31-year-old, who would have been a marquee signing for Todd Boehly.

With PSG still willing to offload Neymar, however, the possibility of a summer deal remains a live on for Chelsea, according to the Daily Mirror, which also claims one other Premier League club are interested in a transfer for the flair-packed forward.

Signed in 2017 from Barcelona for a world record fee of €222 million, Neymar has struggled to live up to expectations at Parc des Princes. He has been criticised for his lifestyle but there has also been an element of bad fortune for the Brazilian, who has repeatedly suffered from injury problems at key moments while with PSG.

Neymar’s injury nightmare continued this season as he was ruled out of the final three months of action following ankle surgery.

When on the field, he has proven to be decisive, despite his detractors. In 173 games, he has scored 118 goals and created 77 more. These are figures that are marginally better than he managed during his time at Barcelona, where he struck 105 goals and generated another 76 assists in 186 outings.

Why Neymar to Chelsea could make sense

With Chelsea struggling for any kind of offensive production this season, he is an attractive player. Not only would he help solve the creative problems that the Blues are suffering – no player has more than two Premier League assists this season – but he would also provide a marketing boon for the London side.

Questions will be asked over just where Neymar might fit into this Chelsea squad, though. Although a versatile forward, he typically plays off the left of the attack, where the Blues already have a queue of options.

FootballTransfers, however, has revealed that Chelsea are willing to listen to offers for everyone in their squad, suggesting that a dramatic cull in the summer could create room for Neymar, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €61.8m, to play.
