'Conor Gallagher starts upfront' - Lampard slaughtered for bizarre selection
Conor Gallagher has been selected upfront for Chelsea’s encounter against Brentford - and Frank Lampard has been slaughtered for it.
The midfielder has been chosen to play as the lead striker against the Bees, in what is a bizarre call by the interim boss.
Gallagher is traditionally a box-to-box midfielder, but the club legend, now in the dugout, has decided to make him the man which Chelsea can rely to get their goals on.

Joke of a lineup. I’ll watch the City game instead. Had enough

It’s a disgrace, but what was Boehly thinking appointing Lampard

It’s an indication of how incompetent Lampard is as a manager. Looking at that bench doesn’t suggest how far we’ve fallen - it suggests we’ve had managers unable to utilise good resources put in front of them.

Frank Lampard is not a real coach. He is a fraud.

Ahead of the Blues' clash against Brentford, Lampard outlined his plan for letting youngsters get a game in.
He said in a press conference: "During my first period at the club, I came in with a transfer ban and losing big players and everyone said, 'of course, the young players get in the team'. They got in the team because they deserved it with how they trained.
"That's a culture and a way you have to have at a top football club. I don't think changes just for the moment, I think it should always be there.
"Players have to train, those seven games and days of training are all opportunities every day to try and show you deserve to be in the team. As I think I've probably shown as a coach, if you do that, you'll always get an opportunity with me."
