Harry Kane has been warned that a move to Manchester United isn't guaranteed to deliver him the missing silverware in his career, with Manchester City the only Premier League club that can do so.

Kane is understood to be Man Utd's top transfer target this summer, and the England captain - scorer of 207 Premier League goals - is open to the move with current employers Tottenham Hotspur trophyless since 2008.

Kane turns 30 in July, and this summer could be his last chance for a big-money move.

United are also interested in Victor Osimhen, Goncalo Ramos and Rasmus Hojlund as they look for a long-term Cristiano Ronaldo replacement, but Kane is top of their shopping list, already proven in the Premier League as he is.

Anderton's advice

"Harry Kane in Manchester United's team, I think, is a very good fit and he has a chance of winning trophies," Darren Anderton - who came close to making the same move in 1995 - told Express Sport.

"I think it will tempt him for sure, but there's no guarantee if he goes to Manchester United, he's going to win trophies. I feel like the only club that you can go to that can almost guarantee it is Manchester City at the moment, the way they've gone over the last decade."

United did win the EFL Cup under Erik ten Hag in February, and on course for Champions League football next season with the Dutchman steering them to third in the league.

Kane came close to joining Man City the summer before last, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy insisted on a £127 million fee for his player and the move fell through.

Kane is currently valued at €89.9m (£79.6m) by FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm, although a fee of at least £100m might still be required to prise him away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
