Manchester United remain in the race for Victor Osimhen, after the Napoli striker’s entourage derided talk of agreeing terms with PSG or Bayern Munich ‘fake news’.

Osimhen is one of the biggest names being linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, as Man Utd look to solve their need for a new number nine.

The Nigeria international, 24, has been in truly prolific form for Napoli this season, notching 26 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A champions elect.

Unsurprisingly, Osimhen’s goalscoring exploits have sparked widespread speculation about his future – but rumours of any move being close to fruition are premature, it would seem.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, a member of Osimhen’s camp defiantly said: “Fake news. It’s [too] early to discuss a transfer.”

According to Fabrizo Romano, Napoli have not yet even attached a price to their star man – who currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €70m.

Where next for Osimhen?

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille back in 2020 for €70m and is now closing in on 100 appearances for the Partenopei.

Named Serie A’s Best Young Player for 2021/22, he is the leading scorer in the Italian top flight this term with 21 goals in 25 games.

Where Osimhen will be playing his football next season remains to be seen, but he did recently declare his love for Napoli, stating: “I am already at one of the biggest clubs and I could not ask for more. Forza Napoli always!”
