Harry Maguire endured the latest difficult chapter of his Manchester United career against Sevilla in a 3-0 Europa League defeat on Thursday.

The England international defender was at the heart of a mix up that led to the home side’s opening goal, giving the ball away 20 yards from his own net to allow the hosts an easy opportunity to strike. Thereafter, he looked uncomfortable as Man Utd were overwhelmed and saw their European adventure end.

It was not the first nightmare evening that the 30-year-old has endured with the Red Devils, and with his status at Old Trafford dwindling, the probability is that he will be sold in the summer.

What transfer fee can Man Utd expect for Harry Maguire?

When Maguire signed for Man Utd from Leicester in 2019, he did so for €87 million, which remains the record fee for a central defender. This was in excess of €75m more than the Foxes had paid for him two years earlier.

According to FootballTransfers Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) model, Maguire has never been worth that type of money. Indeed, he reached his peak valuation of €59.5m shortly after joining Man Utd. He has been on a steady decline since then.

Out of contract in June 2025, Man Utd will now do well to raise €30m for a sale of the 30-year-old defender this summer. There is an error range in this estimate, which gives Maguire a top-end price of €37.2m.

At this sort of value, Premier League clubs in the middle range of the table will likely retain an interest, aware of Maguire’s technical weaknesses but also his strengths when asked to be a pure defender, as he was with Leicester.

Certainly, the match against Sevilla appears to be the end of the road for him at Old Trafford, with Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof all ahead of him in the pecking order.
