Chelsea star SLAMS Todd Boehly for crazy spending spree
Thiago Silva has publicly criticised Chelsea owner Todd Boehly for the way he is running the club, remarking that there is no strategy in place at Stamford Bridge.
Boehly headed up the ownership group that bought Chelsea last year after former owner Roman Abramovich was forced to relinquish control due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
The American oversaw a world record spending splurge of more than £600 million in 2022-23, with Chelsea spending more money on new players than any club in one season in history.

But the results on the pitch have been disastrous. Chelsea are in 11th position in the Premier League and are out of all cup competitions. They are also on their third manager of the campaign, with Frank Lampard returning as interim coach after the sackings of Graham Potter and Thomas Tuchel.
On Tuesday, Chelsea suffered another negative result as they were knocked out of the Champions League 4-0 on aggregate in the quarter final by Real Madrid, losing 2-0 on the night at Stamford Bridge.
This prompted a furious outburst by veteran Thiago Silva.
What did Thiago Silva say?
“I think the first step has been made, an incorrect step, but it has been made. We can’t be blaming the managers if we don’t take responsibility. It’s a hard period for the club, with a lot of indecision.
“Change of ownership, new players arriving – we had to increase the size of the changing room because it didn’t fit the size of the squad.
“A positive point is that there are amazing players in the squad but on the other hand there are always players that are going to be unhappy. There is always going to be someone upset because not everyone can play. The manager can only pick 11 from a squad of 30-something – that’s tough.
“Some can’t make the squad, we signed eight in January, we need to stop and put a strategy in place otherwise next season we could make the same mistakes.”
Whether or not Boehly heeds Silva's warning remains to be seen as Chelsea are expected to spend heavily and appoint a fourth coach in less than a year this summer.
