Arsenal would have won league with Ronaldo, claims Piers Morgan
Piers Morgan is adamant that Arsenal would have won the Premier League this season if they’d signed Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo left Manchester United in November after agreeing a mutual termination of his contract with the club, bringing down the curtain on his controversy-laden second spell at Old Trafford.
The five-time Ballon d’Or ultimately joined Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr in January – but Morgan feels the veteran forward still had plenty to offer in England.

Arsenal’s title challenge was already all but over – but Sunday’s 3-0 home loss to Brighton means Manchester City could be crowned champions before they next kick a ball.
That will be the case if the Gunners fail to beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday – and Morgan thinks Mikel Arteta and co. missed an opportunity to make sure they held onto top spot.
The ever-outspoken media personality, one of Arsenal’s most famous fans, tweeted: “Mock all you like, but if we’d signed Ronaldo when he left Utd, until the end of the season – as he was keen to do [by the way] – we would have won the league. He knows how to win major trophies, and how to score goals when it really matters.”

Would Ronaldo have been the right man for Arsenal?
Morgan’s claim that Ronaldo’s goals would have got Arsenal – who led the league by 10 points in January – over the line is certainly up for debate.
While the sole cause of their demise, it feels like little coincidence that Arteta’s side have seen their dramatic downturn in form coincide with the injury absence of key centre-back William Saliba.
And that’s before one even touches on the disharmony Ronaldo brought to Man Utd with some of his petulant behaviour: would that really have helped Arsenal end their wait for a first league title in 19 years?
