The Argentine's appointment at Chelsea appears to be imminent, and if a report from Football Insider is to be believed, he was asked about Chelsea's transfer plans during the negotiations.

The Blues have been linked with a move for Liverpool legend Sadio Mane in recent weeks and although no concrete contact has been made with the player, he is believed to be a possible short-term fix for Chelsea's attacking woes.

Pochettino apparently assented to a potential move for the Bayern Munich man as he is a big admirer of the Senegalese forward and would like to have him at his disposal when he takes the reins at Chelsea in the summer.

Mane's Bayern hell

If a move were to materialise, it would be a swift end to Mane's time in Munich after his €32 million move just last summer. Though he started like a house on fire, scoring five times in his first month of competitive football in Germany, Mane has since had a torrid time of it on the continent.

The 31-year-old has only added seven more goals since his first month, missing the World Cup and a decent chunk of the post-winter break fixtures due to injury before making headlines when he punched teammate Leroy Sane square in the face during a dressing room bust-up after Bayern's 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the Champions League.

The German behemoth, on course to win their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title after Dortmund failed to beat Bochum on Friday, are said to be open to moving Mane on after just one season as long as they can manage to recoup something close to their original outlay of €32m.

Though not a natural number nine, Mane can deputies in the position and it is believed that Chelsea could look to him to be an affordable solution for the upcoming season given their inability to spend big due to Financial Fair Play regulations.
