EXCLUSIVE: Man City set to land England Under-16 youth stars

Manchester City are close to snapping up Luca Fletcher and Spike Brits, FootballTransfers can reveal.

The Citizens continue their crusade of bringing in some of the brightest young talents by signing striker Fletcher from Reading Youth, and Brits, a highly-rated 15-year-old goalkeeper who’s currently playing for AFC Wimbledon.

Sources claim that England under-16 players are set for an Etihad move but it’s not clear yet when the finalities of both deals will be ironed out.

Fletcher, a client of Roc Nation, a multinational agency, plays as a No.9 and also as a wide forward. So far, he has over 20 goals for his club this season and four goals in four games for his nation.

Brits is considered the next goalkeeping gem in England. It was reported that Manchester United were in the running to sign the shot-stopper in February, but it’s Man City who have managed to secure the youngster’s signature.

Fletcher had been linked with a move to West Ham earlier this year, but the allure of the Man City academy has proved too great.

It comes after our exclusive that Watford teenager Harry Amass is set to join Manchester United from Watford, after the player turned down a proposal from Chelsea and an approach from Man City.

The 16-year-old will join the Red Devils as a scholar. Club sources told FootballTransfers that the move was not ‘complete’ yet but they admitted interest was certainly there.

We are told that Amass has picked Man Utd because there is a decent project on offer and because the club have had a habit under Erik ten Hag of giving youth players first-team minutes.

It is thought that the left-back could become the successor to Luke Shaw in the coming years.

Furthermore, we are led to believe that Amass will come in and be a replacement for Zach Giggs, son of club legend Ryan Giggs.

Zach is currently away on trial with Sheffield United and is not expected to return to the Red Devils.

Amass can play as a left-back and as a centre-back. Despite his young age, he was named among the substitutes for Watford's FA Cup clash with Reading back in January.

He will join at the end of the season, we are told, before signing professional terms when he turns 17.
