Potter vs Lampard: Who is Chelsea’s WORST manager of the season?
When Chelsea splashed out lavish money during the summer transfer window, fans would surely not have expected the season that has followed.
The Blues are destined to finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table as one of the lowest-scoring teams in the division and are already onto their third manager of their campaign.
Thomas Tuchel was given a brief shot but quickly jettisoned when he did not share the philosophy of owner Todd Boehly, while Graham Potter came and went with a record that was among the worst in Chelsea history.

Frank Lampard, meanwhile, has been a sticking plaster for the Stamford Bridge side’s problems until the summer, when Mauricio Pochettino is set to take charge of the club.
Chelsea fans probably didn’t think it could get much worse than Potter.

The 47-year-old posted dreadful figures in during his stint in charge. He oversaw 22 Premier League matches, winning just seven of these while losing eight. Additionally, his side mustered only 21 goals – less than one per game on average.
Under Lampard, though, things have continued to deteriorate. The former Everton boss suffered six successive defeats to start his brief reign, scoring only two goals in these matches. Things have improved in his last couple of games, with a 3-1 victory over an in-form Bournemouth away from home followed by a 2-2 home draw against Nottingham Forest.
It is remarkable, though, that for a side that spent €600 million this season, a home draw with a relegation candidate is an improvement on anything.
Lampard can at least use the argument that he is using a squad that he has had virtually no influence over, both in terms of what has happened previously this season and with leverage regarding what is to come in the future.
Potter had both of these tools at his disposal but was unable to get a tune out of this Chelsea squad. The damage of this could take years to repair.
