Having secured their third straight Premier League title, Manchester City appear firmly focused on the future, with standout youngster Rico Lewis set to sign a new long-term deal.

Lewis firmly broke into the first-team fold this season, collecting his first Premier League winners’ medal as Man City lifted the trophy after Sunday’s 1-0 home win over Chelsea – of which the versatile defender played the full 90 minutes.

And it looks like the 18-year-old – who made his England U21 debut in March – is very much in Pep Guardiola’s plans going forward.

Fabrizio Romano has given Lewis the ‘here we go’ treatment, reporting that contract talks have been at an ‘advanced’ stage for months, with just the final details to thrash out now.

Lewis has featured 20 times in all competitions for Man City this term, making both his Premier League and Champions League debuts.

He scored his first goal for the club in the latter competition, opening the scoring in City’s group-stage win over Sevilla.

A dream come true

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live amid Man City’s latest round of title celebrations, Lewis expressed his determination to taste even more glory. He said: “It [the title win] hasn't really sunk in yet. It's unbelievable that I'm on the pitch with these top-quality players. I've dreamt of it since being a kid and now it has come true.

“It's so easy for me to learn from them. I'm playing with world-class players and the best manager in the world. I just have to listen and learn. It's amazing to be next to them every day.

“The message for next season will be that we have to go again and I'm happy to follow that. It's never really enough. I want more.”
