Man Utd takeover: Rishi Sunak ‘closes’ Qatar deal
Manchester United fans are gushing after UK prime minister Rishi Sunak was seen greeting the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to Number 10 Downing Street.
The Man Utd takeover rumbles on in the background, with a third round of bidding having taken place.
It is still not clear which way the Glazers will go in terms of a sale: they could either agree to a 50 per cent sale to Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Britain’s richest man, or make a full sale to Sheikh Jassim, the chairman of a leading Qatari bank and son of a former Qatari prime minister.

Most fans are vying for the Qatari group to be granted the full purchase of the club, mostly because it would mean the end of the 18-year tenure of the Glazers.
It all remains to be seen, but some supporters have hung their hats on seeing Sunak welcome the Emir of Qatar to Downing Street, in a bid to 'strengthen' the partnership between the two countries.
