Manchester United could part ways with as many as 13 players this summer, among them skipper Harry Maguire.

Erik ten Hag’s side need just one point from their final two Premier League games of the season to make mathematically sure of Champions League football in 2023/24 – so a reasonable squad overhaul could be on the cards.

Forgotten man Phil Jones is the one confirmed departure so far, but an extra 12 players may follow him out of the Old Trafford exit door over the next few months.

According to the Mirror, fellow centre-back Maguire could join Jones in leaving Man Utd, having seen his involvement dramatically reduced this term amid continued mistake-riddled performances.

Despite keeping the captain’s armband, the England international – who remains the most expensive defender of all time, having joined United from Leicester in an £80m switch four years ago – has fallen down the pecking order, with Ten Hag favouring Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

In fact, Maguire, 30, has made just seven Premier League starts in 2022/23 – down 75% from last term – and only 15 in all competitions.

All change at Old Trafford?

Rumours of a departure for Maguire come as Man Utd continue to be linked with Napoli’s South Korean international defensive star Kim Min-jae.

As well as Maguire and Jones, it has been speculated that United could dispense with Diogo Dalot, Anthony Elanga, Fred, Anthony Martial, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams.

A further three defenders may also be on their way out of Old Trafford: Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe and Alex Telles have spent the current campaign on loan at Marseille, Stoke City and Sevilla respectively.
