Neymar has finally given an indication that he is ready to leave Paris Saint-Germain, having been pushed towards an exit by the club and the negativity created by a portion of their fanbase.

The Brazilian made a world-record transfer to PSG in 2017 but his time at the club has been marred by injuries and an underwhelming record in Europe despite the presence of teammates such as Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

Neymar has made no more than 22 league appearances for PSG in any of his six seasons in France and PSG were attempting to sell him last summer but the 31-year-old instead opted to take up the option to extend his contract until 2027.

ANGER: Speculation builds over Neymar exit

PSG are looking to conduct a fresh start and build around young, French players, having seen the costly experiment to assemble a team of elite stars fail to match expectations.

However, despite tentative interest from Chelsea, Juventus and Barcelona last summer, Neymar’s €40m salary has proven to be a stumbling block, with the forward previously unwilling to leave.

But recent developments have seen PSG’s fans focus their fury on Neymar, with supporters gathering outside his home and chanting for him to leave and reports in France have suggested the pressure has proven to be a breaking point.

Premier League ‘the only market’ for Neymar

French outlet FootMercato claims that Neymar has been ‘affected’ by the incident outside his home and has changed his mind over staying, although he will only leave for the right move.

PSG are stated as being willing to ‘make concessions’ to part with Neymar but early interest has only come from Saudi Arabia – a move which the player has no interest in making.

As a result, FootMercato outlines that the Premier League is the only market for Neymar, with Manchester United and Chelsea being mentioned.

Messi is also set to depart this summer when his contract expires while Mbappe is entering the final year of his contract, meaning PSG could make wholesale changes to their core in the coming season as they look to move on from their prized talents.
