Spurs signed Udogie for €18 million plus add-ons from Udinese last summer – although he remained at the Stadio Friuli on loan for the 2022-23 season.

Udogie will now join up with his Tottenham teammates this summer for pre-season ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

And his soon-to-be former Udinese teammate Samardzic has hailed the Italian and is confident he will succeed in London.

What did Samardzic say about Udogie?

"Udogie is the best left back in Serie A for me, “ Samardzic told The Italian Football Podcast in an interview due to air on Wednesday.

“He can do everything. I think he will be an important player for Tottenham next year.

“He is an amazing player."

The 20-year-old has emerged as one of Italy’s most impressive young players over the past two seasons.

He has managed eight goals and eight assists in 61 starts during that time.

Udogie is a very attacking wing-back, who pushes forward as much as possible and regularly gets into the box. He has impressive physical qualities and stamina for his young age.

Udogie’s natural position is as a left-wing back in a 3-5-2 formation, which is where he has been playing for Udinese.

He has also featured as a mezzala, a left central midfielder in a midfield three for the Italy youth teams.

He was signed by former transfer chief Fabio Paratici specifically for Antonio Conte’s wingback system.

With both Italians now having departed, it remains to be seen who the new manager is and what formation they will play.

Tottenham face a big summer ahead after a miserable 2022-23 season in which they finished eight, went through three managers and failed to qualify for Europe.
