Chelsea ring in NEW ERA with BARGAIN transfer
Chelsea have announced the signing of Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson.
It was an open secret for weeks and now it has finally been announced: Chelsea have sealed a deal to sign the Senegalese star. It is a transfer that rings in a new era at Stamford Bridge.
The days of Todd Boehly's lavish spending on ill-suited players are over. The Nicolas Jackson signing - like that of Christopher Nkunku - is a shrewd piece of business. The Blues negotiated a €35 million deal for the 22-year-old in what could be one of the new season's biggest bargain moves.
To be sure, it already takes Chelsea's transfer outlay up to around €100 million given that the Nkunku transfer set them back €60m, but this summer won't be another record-breaking one especially since the Blues will rake in as much as €200m from sales, regardless of the dodgy nature of the Saudi deals.

Chelsea will head into the new season with a much slimmer roster and an exciting new coach who knows exactly how to get the best out of players like Jackson. The ex-Villarreal man is still raw - he only has one full season of senior football under his belt - but he has the potential to become a goalscoring great.

Solving the No.9 issue
Whether he will be able to recapture the form that saw him score nine times in his final eight games of last season remains to be seen, but the fact is that he could very well be the solution to Chelsea's striker problem.
Romelu Lukaku and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have failed to have the desired impact and both will be offloaded this summer. It means, of course, that big responsibility will fall at the feet of Jackson, but this could be eased by Nkunku, who is capable of performing all over the attacking third.

If Pochettino does manage to mould Jackson into the Blues' next forward sensation, Chelsea will be a force to be reckoned with next season.
