Chelsea attacker Havertz's medical for Arsenal now in place
Kai Havertz's medical ahead of his move to Arsenal is due to take place this weekend and a formal announcement of his transfer is expected next week.
ESPN report that Arsenal are closing in on a move for the German international.
A deal valued at approximately £65m has been agreed in principle as well, and the medical is set to take place overseas.
The transfer fee for Havertz, who netted nine goals in 47 appearances for Chelsea last season, includes potential add-ons that could increase the overall amount. The 24-year-old initially joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 for a fee of approximately £71m.

It is thought that Mikel Arteta sees incoming Chelsea starlet Kai Havertz as a replacement for Granit Xhaka - while it was believed before that he would be someone who can play in the attacking three, according to the Mail.
The German is set to sign for £65million and take the Chelsea attacker from west London to north London.

Arteta feels Havertz can thrive as a left-sided No 8, being used to carry the ball up the pitch into the attacking third.
The Spaniard is enamoured with Havertz's versatility, which is why he is prepared to go all out on him this window.
Havertz earned his transfer to Chelsea based on two impressive seasons in the Bundesliga, where he showcased his versatility by playing in various positions for a dynamic team. His exceptional performances during the 2019-2020 season, where he contributed to 27 goals in a challenging campaign.

Arsenal are also chasing England midfielder Declan Rice, the West Ham captain, but a second bid for the 24-year-old was rejected and now Manchester City are thought to be preparing an offer.
West Ham have admitted that it is likely that Rice will leave this transfer window.
