Manchester United have tabled a first official offer for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to Alfredo Pedulla.

The Italian transfer guru reported late on Wednesday evening that United placed a bid of around €45-50 million, including add-ons.

This was immediately rejected by Inter, who are demanding €60m to sell and also are not happy with the structure of the bonuses and add-ons in Man Utd’s offer.

It is believed that a deal is possible if United can raise their offer closer to Inter’s demands.

Onana is Erik ten Hag’s favourite goalkeeper and he has singled him out as the successor to David de Gea, who faces contract uncertainty as his deal is set to expire on Friday.

The pair worked together at Ajax, with Onana playing a key role as Ten Hag’s side reached the 2019 Chamopions League semi-final - being seconds away from making the final.

Inter need to sell this summer before they can buy and so are open to cashing in on Onana given he would represent a full profit in terms of capital gains having arrived on a free transfer.

Onana at Inter Milan

Onana only arrived at Inter a year ago on a free transfer after he saw out his contract at Ajax.

The 26-year-old has been a revelation at San Siro, soon displacing long-term number one Samir Handanovic from the starting XI.

The ex-Ajax man was one the best goalkeepers in all of Europe this season, perhaps the best of all in the Champions League.

He had more clean sheets than any goalkeeper in the Champions League, with eight shutouts taking Inter all the way to the final where they narrowly lost 1-0 to Man City.

As well as having cat-like reflexes, Onana is a commanding presence as he dominates his area. He is a leader and organiser, a very vocal presence.

He is also brilliant with his feet and reads the game fantastically, acting as a sweeper. This is something Ten Hag particularly wants in his goalkeeper, and what De Gea is lacking from his game.
