Man Utd issue Mount ultimatum to Chelsea
Manchester United want to get a deal for Mason Mount done quickly, but now reports suggest that they could break off contact with Chelsea even before their July 1 deadline.
Much like the Red Devils' takeover saga, the deal to get Mason Mount to Old Trafford is starting to drag on. United, however, have no intention of spending the entire summer chasing the Chelsea man in hopes that the Blues will eventually compromise.
United have already had two bids rejected by Chelsea, but they have managed to reportedly soften up their counterparts a bit. Yet Todd Boehly and company have not budged enough to meet United's valuation of the player. This means that a divergence between what Chelsea want and what United are prepared to offer still exists.

It was revealed on Thursday that United are planning to get either get a deal done by the end of the month or leave the negotiations. Fresh reports now claim that Erik ten Hag is ready to end his pursuit even before that deadline.
United's ultimatum
According to Sky Sports, United will submit a third and final offer worth £55 million (€64m). If reports of Chelsea's asking price are correct, this offer will still fall some way short of that, but they may be forced to sell.
Mount has no intention of renewing his deal at Stamford Bridge, so the threat of losing him for nothing next season looms large. This must surely influence Chelsea's thinking.

Should they still reject that offer, Manchester United are prepared to end their pursuit, knowing full well that they have a good chance of landing him next summer given that he agreed on personal terms with the Old Trafford side almost immediately.
They could, however, also try to get revenge on Chelsea. According to The Guardian, United are weighing up making a move for Moises Caicedo, who has been heavily linked with Mauricio Pochettino's side.
