Man Utd make Weghorst decision but face rival interest from Everton

Manchester United will not make Wout Weghorst’s stay permanent while Everton have entered the race to sign the Dutchman.

Erik ten Hag bought the striker in during the January window to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who was sacked last year.

The Red Devils boss brought in Weghorst to lead the line but the attacker was unable to hold down a place in the starting line-up, while his goal return has been poor.

He is still contracted to Burnley but now it appears that Everton have entered the race to sign him.

A report via TalkSport says that the Toffees are looking at bringing in the striker, having managed to survive relegation this season.

Sean Dyche will be looking to overhaul the squad and make sure that they do not endure another torrid campaign again.

It comes after the news that Man Utd have no obligation to buy Weghosrt. It appears that he could be on his way out, along with fellow loanee Marcel Sabitzer.

It is thought that Weghorst did not live up to the standards set at the club - having failed to score in the Premier League since joining the club.

Now the striker will hold talks with Burnley manager Vincent Kompany over his future. Everton look to be keen on the player too.

Everton's targets

Everton are looking to battle Aston Villa and Chelsea to secure the signature of Roma striker Tammy Abraham this summer window too.

Elsewhere there have been links to Almeria striker El Bilal Toure, as they look to rebuild the frontline that failed to hit the mark last season in the league.

The club took their relegation battle to the wire, but were able to overcome Bournemouth on the final day at Goodison Park. Leicester and Leeds went down in their place.
