‘Animal’ Man Utd star wanted by Premier League rivals

Hannibal Mejbri is wanted by Leicester City and Luton Town following his decent spell in pre-season for Manchester United.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with Birmingham City, becoming something of a fan favourite in the Midlands.

Hannibal featured in the starting line-up against Wrexham, playing as the No.10. He did so well that he received plaudits from Ben Foster, who was in goal for the Welsh club.

The veteran keeper said to the United Stand: “I thought Hannibal in the midfield was brilliant. There’s something about him that really winds you up, but also you love at the same time. He’s that animal, he’s kind of driven.”

The Tunisian star gained could make another loan move ahead of the new season.

Hannibal thrived in the Championship, making 38 league appearances and scoring six goals during that time.

Erik ten Hag will decide his future, while it’s more than likely he will be shipped out on loan.

It comes after the Dutchman criticised his men after their loss to Real Madrid on Wednesday in Houston.

Ten Hag was asked if the performance highlighted Man Utd’s need for a striker in the window.

He replied: "Absolutely. Two things: the pressing can be better from the start and scoring goals. And I think we need more players who are capable to be in the one-on-ones.

"We had the situations: it was (Marcus) Rashford, Scott McTominay, (Alejandro) Garnacho, you have to score. It's always difficult to see... but we are working 24/7. We do a lot in the club, all the power to get this done.

"We never talk about players under contract with another club, we have our targets, we are 24/7, we are busy with it, with the right player to sign a contract with us."
