Chelsea seal €45m transfer as Fabrizio Romano says ‘Here we go!’
Chelsea will make Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi their sixth permanent signing of the summer, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that the Blues have completed a deal for the 25-year-old.
Although Disasi has been linked with several Premier League sides in the recent past – Manchester United and Newcastle were just two of the teams who have been associated with him this summer – the Blues appeared nowhere in the race until Sunday, when it suddenly emerged a deal was close.
According to Romano, Chelsea are ready to pay Monaco €45 million for a player who has risen in prominence over the last season.

The football transfer specialist said: “Chelsea have sealed Axel Disasi deal. Documents and paperwork are set to be exchanged by the two clubs.”
Disasi still has to complete the formality of a medical, which is set to be completed early in the week. He will sign a five-year deal with the club, with the option of an additional season.

Romano further added that while there was interest from both Man Utd and Newcastle, neither of the two Champions League sides elected to make a bid for the player.
He is the second defender that Chelsea have picked up from Monaco in two transfer windows, having signed Disasi’s central defensive colleague Benoit Badiashile for €38m in January.
Axel Disasi’s memorable season
Disasi showed impressive durability for Monaco last season as they finished sixth in France, playing in every single one of the club’s 49 competitive matches across Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and European football. He scored six goals in these matches and created four more.
Over this time, he also became an international and has four France caps, even turning out for a single minute in the World Cup final.
Although typically a centre-back, he can also play as a right-back, which is where he has been used by Didier Deschamps when playing with Les Bleus.
Disasi has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €20m, which suggests that Chelsea are paying over the odds to sign him.
