Thiago Silva wants Chelsea to sign Paulo Dybala.

Rumours linking the 2022 World Cup winner with a move to Stamford Bridge recently cropped up again. New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is a long-time admirer of his compatriot and he already tried to sign Dybala during his stints in charge of Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain.

Five years ago, Pochettino said of Dybala: "He’s that type of player, like Messi, Neymar and Cristiano [Ronaldo]. They have the capacity to give the team a different option." The 51-year-old allegedly sees the Roma man as someone who could add another dimension to a Chelsea attack that struggled to consistently score last term.

He would be a bargain, too. Italian clubs would have to pay €20 million to activate his Roma release clause, but foreign sides only have to part with €12m. There are, however, questions about the 29-year-old's ability to cope with the Premier League, especially at this point in his career and with his injury record.

Nevertheless, Blues defender Thiago Silva fully supports his side in making a move.

Speaking at British Grand Prix, Silva revealed his admiration for the Argentine: "I saw Paulo Dybala here, they talk about him at Chelsea. I hope he arrives. I’ve talked with him and asked him if he is coming. He is a world-class player."

“Normally," he continued, "we speak in Spanish or Portuguese. I asked him if he wanted to come to Chelsea, but he didn't want to answer. He is a champion. If he were to come, he would give a great hand."

The 38-year-old also gave his thoughts on the two Chelsea players set to depart for his former club, AC Milan: "[Christian] Pulisic is a good guy, he’s gonna do very well at Milan — same as [Ruben] Loftus-Cheek.”
