ANOTHER takeover saga? Liverpool seek outside investment
Liverpool's owners are still searching for potential investors despite changing their tune on a full sale.
The Manchester United takeover saga has taken the undivided spotlight with regard to Premier League ownership in recent months. Somewhat lost in the maelstrom and headlines of the fierce bidding war between Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe was the fact that Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group, were also looking for possible investment just like the Glazers.
The two American ownership groups put their respective clubs up for investment opportunities and even a full sale at a similar time, but only one of them actually went through with the process - as things stand at least. There's still no clarity on whether the Glazers will actually sell, but they have entertained offers.

FSG, on the other hand, changed their mind at the start of the year, but they remain open to possible investment in order to enable Jurgen Klopp and company to carry out more spending sprees like this summer's, with €100 million already spent on just two transfers thus far: Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Liverpool's ownership: The state of play
Journalist Ben Jacobs went on CaughtOffside's Debrief podcast to shed some light on the current state of FSG's investor search. "Behind the scenes," Jacobs said, "I still think we are going to see something move at some point during the [next] season on the investment side with FSG."
Those who fear a similar drawn-out saga to the one seen at United have no need to worry, according to Jacobs. "It won’t be a full sale but they are still exploring the possibility of minority investment."

"One wonders," he added "after the Manchester United saga ends whether we actually see that as a yardstick for price and then FSG try and move in some capacity."
"So, there is a lot to like at Liverpool because, despite the disappointment of last season, I still feel that behind the scenes when I talk to sources that there is calmness and stability," Jacobs concluded.
