Jordan Henderson 'close to agreeing personal terms' with TWO European giants

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson could be on his way out of Anfield this summer.

Rumours about a potential departure of the 33-year-old refuse to go away. On Monday (July 12), L'Equipe claimed that Henderson was in 'advanced negotiations' with Saudi club Al-Ettifaq, now coached by former Liverpool teammate and club legend Steven Gerrard.

The midfielder faced some criticism last season as Liverpool endured a poor campaign that saw them miss out on Champions League football. The old guard of Liverpool's centre of the park came under fire due to their lack of mobility, which has now seen Jurgen Klopp and company dip into the market to bring in fresh-faced recruits in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, aged 24 and 22, respectively.

Henderson's role is expected to diminish next term and this could mean that it is now time to move on. Moreover, with Liverpool still interested in bringing in another midfielder, believed to be Romeo Lavia, a Henderson exit would free up some wages that could be used on Lavia, with Liverpool having already splashed a combined €112 million on the aforementioned two signings.

Henderson in talks with European giants

Nothing appears to have come of the Al-Ettifaq rumours, but now a new report claims that Henderson is in talks with Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid.

That is according to journalist Chris Wheatley. Posting on Threads, Wheatley claimed that 'Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid are close to agreeing personal terms with Jordan Henderson.'

Whether there is anything to this remains to be seen, but both clubs have previously been said to be interested in the Liverpool captain.

Indeed, PSG reportedly tried to sign him in 2021 after Giorginio Wijnladum made the switch from Liverpool to Paris, while Atletico were also believed to be keen on a move at the time.
