Liverpool want €80m PSG star as Romano makes ‘NO INTENTION’ transfer declaration
Liverpool’s hunt for a midfielder may see them turn their interest towards PSG star Marco Verratti, according to reports.
The Reds could sell both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to clubs in the Saudi Pro League as Jurgen Klopp steps up his Anfield revolution after a disappointing 2022/23 campaign.
In turn, this would see them look to add to their numbers in the middle of the park, where so far only Alexis Mac Allister has arrived.
EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool consider Leon Goretzka to bolster midfield
Despite an expectation that Khephrem Thuram would arrive from Nice, no deal has yet been done, and Klopp is monitoring Verratti, who is valued at €80 million by PSG, according to L'Equipe.
Atletico Madrid are ahead in the race for the Italy international, who has come under fire in Paris because of his lifestyle over the course of the last six months. Moreover, new head coach Luis Enrique has previously expressed doubts over him.

He has gone from being a player considered essential to the team to one under fire.
Verratti is thought to be Diego Simeone’s absolute priority this summer, with Liverpool and another unnamed Premier League side keeping close tabs on his progress. The possibility of the 30-year-old going to the Saudi Pro League is also mooted, with Al-Hilal interested, although the midfielder does not wish to move to the Gulf club, despite the money on offer.
Liverpool reject Luis Diaz offer
Liverpool, meanwhile, have rejected an offer from Al-Hilal for Colombia international winger Luis Diaz.
Although he struggled with injuries last season, Diaz was subject to a €50m offer from the Saudi Pro League club, but this has been rebuffed by the Anfield club, according to football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.
It is stated that Diaz remains part of Klopp’s long-term plans and that the Reds want the player to remain at the club this season.
