Sky Germany reports that the Premier League side have gone back in for the right-back, but a transfer would depend on whether the takeover goes through.

The 22-year-old, who is valued at around €40-€50 million by Bayer Leverkusen, enjoyed a superb campaign in the Bundesliga last term, netting eight goals and providing seven assists.

As well as the Red Devils, the club which compatriot Erik ten Hag presides over, Arsenal are strongly linked with a move for Frimpong.

Man Utd have a lot of depth at right-back now Diogo Dalot extended his contract with Man Utd and Aaron Wan-Bissaka fought back to earn a place in the starting line-up halfway through last season.

It comes after the news that Andre Onana is on the verge of switching to Old Trafford. The Inter goalkeeper has agreed personal terms with the club and it is thought that a move is imminent.

The club are also looking to bolster their forward line - Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund is of interest to the club, who are working with a restricted budget due to Financial Fair Play rules. and the ongoing saga over the sale of the club.

The club made a return to the Champions League so will have to battle on four fronts next term.

Ten Hag is also looking to move players on, such as Fred, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, and Anthony Martial.

The trouble is that each are on substantial wages and so finding a club has been difficult.
